The management of Steno
The top management body is the Steno management which is a multi-disciplinary team with representatives from three sections: hospital, education and research. The team comprises a chief physician, the head of the clinical department, the head nurse, the head of education and a representative from the research unit. The chief physician is Steno Diabetes Centre’s top leader who is responsible to the board for the centre’s dealings.
The management’s tasks
The management of Steno is responsible for a range of tasks, for example, interdisciplinary issues, including the coordination of the goals and strategies of the three sections: hospital, education and research. Steno management has the overall responsibility for a number of areas, such as developing patient treatment and research, quality development and education. It is also responsible for Steno Diabetes Center’s relation to the public hospital system, Novo Nordisk, the universities and other providers of education.
The management areas of the three sections
The three sections: hospital, education and research have independent management groups. These groups are responsible for making decisions in their area.
• The management of the hospital deals with the day-to-day running of the hospital and is responsible for treatment and clinical development.
• The management of the education unit is responsible for the planning, course development and the running of all educational activities in relation to the statement of aims and agreements with Copenhagen County and Novo Nordisk.
• The management of the research unit is responsible for research and development and the coordination of activities between the research groups.
