The educational kitchen


Twice a year the kitchen manager organises a cookery course for those attending the SDC outpatient clinic. Classes are held in the kitchen of the hospital building and each class has ten participants.

The aim of the classes is to introduce
• new dishes
• vegetables
• spices and to show participants how these are prepared

A pre-planned menu is presented at each session and the content of carbohydrates, protein and fats is discussed. Apart from the preparation of the food, participants also learn about the meal composition in relation to the plate model. The course is advertised in the outpatient clinic, and comprises four weekly sessions; both morning and afternoon classes are offered.
