Steno Health Promotion Center is publishing this book to help cover the need for cohesion between relevant theories and methods in patient education. Patient education methods can create the framework for health promoting behaviour and Steno Health Promotion Center is working to provide the health science evidence for the efficacy and sustainability of the methods.
The exercises in the book have been developed by researchers at Steno Health Promotion Center in conjunction with patients with chronic illness and professional health care educators.

This study presents the results of the extensive rapport “Health Education Principles in Patient Education” in an easy accessible and shorter version. The study indentifies and analyses five central problem areas in the literature on patient education. It is expected that an approach based on health pedagogy within these five areas will contribute considerably to the development and improvement of patient education.
