About Steno

Steno Diabetes Center is a highly specialised and internationallly renowned research and teaching hospital, owned by Novo Nordisk. Every year we treat around 6000 people with diabetes in our outpatient clinic.

Treatment
We treat a large number om persons with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, primarly from The Capital Region of Denmark. We also treat a minor number of people with diabetes from other parts of Denmark. We work together with the Endocrinology Clinic at Rigshospitalet to run the Diabetes Unit, located in Rigshospitalet. Fully integrated electronic patient medical records have been used in the clinic since 2001.

Research
Steno Diabetes Center has a long research tradition. Our research area spans from the causes of diabetes to prevention of the disease and its complications. We have more than 100 staff members working in the research area and we are involved in extensive international work.

Education
Steno Diabetes Center runs educational activities for healthcare professionals and researhers. We are an education centre for students from many professional areas, and we also offer further and higher education for a range of professionals. Our education unit - Steno Education Center – has extensive educational activities abroad, for example, in India and China.
