Diabetes team

All patients at Steno Diabetes Center are attached to one of our three diabetes teams. The name of the team appears on the appointments card and the status sheet that we give the patient after each visit. The diabetes management team is made up of specially trained personnel who in cross-disciplinary cooperation undertake treatment, care, teaching and counselling of people with diabetes.
Being attached to a diabetes management team means that as far as possible you as a patient will meet the same group of therapists. In the event of planned absences (courses and the like) and of illness, you will most often be treated by another member of your team.

A diabetes management team consists of
• Two consultants
• Registrars/doctors in training
• Diabetes nurses
• Clinical dietician
• Podiatrist
• Bio-analysts
• Medical secretaries

We regard it as essential that each patient has a position as an important resource person in the diabetes management team. (Relatives may be involved).
Our staff are highly qualified and well trained and keep up to date in developments in the field of diabetes through participation in further training, congresses and courses. Many staff members teach both their own and other specialist groups at courses concerning diabetes in Denmark.

Team lists
The composition of the three diabetes teams appears on the team lists, which are updated each month and are on display in the waiting area of the outpatient clinic. On this website you can read more about the functions and work assignments of the individual team members, and what counselling they can offer under the item Counselling on the menu.
