The kitchen

The Kitchen comes under the hospital’s administrative area. It primarily services the outpatient ward and to a lesser extent also provides services for other Steno departments. The kitchen is located on the first floor next to the dining room. The food is presented as a buffet; staff are present during meals to help with serving and are happy to provide advice.

The morning buffet:
Tea and coffee, homemade bread, butter/low-fat spread, cheese, jam, milk and corn products, and vegetables.
Porridge, rye-bread gruel, cold meat and boiled eggs can be ordered from the staff.

The lunch buffet:
Rye bread and wholemeal bread, two types of fish, two or three types of cold meat or meat pastes, cheese, a vegetarian dish, vegetables and salad foods, and, at times, a hot dish.

The dinner buffet:
A meat, fish or vegetarian dish with either potatoes, rice or pasta; vegetables and salad foods; and fresh fruit or a desert.
Tea and coffee, wholemeal bread, fruit and vegetables are served mid-morning, mid-afternoon and in the evening.

Our aim is

  • to serve appetising food
  • to serve food high in fibres and low in fat
  • to use as much fresh seasonal produce as possible
  • to offer a variety of foods
  • to serve food to inspire home cooking
