Our fundamental idea
As a research hospital, our diabetes centre shall create through its treatment programmes, its development and research efforts and its training activities a flexible lifestyle of optimal quality for persons with diabetes, giving them a normal life expectancy free from late diabetic complications.

Vision
Through the combination of our care and treatment provision, development programmes and research and training activities, Steno Diabetes Center shall become a prominent national and international entity.

Our main goals
• To be a front runner, both nationally and internationally, in the area of prevention and treatment of diabetes.

• To deliver a substantial research and development contribution in the area of diabetes treatment and treatment management with a view to reducing morbidity and mortality due to late diabetic complications by 30 – 70% by the year 2010 in relation to the level of the early 1990s.

• To contribute to improving the situation of people with diabetes through a variety of educational courses run at all levels for all categories of personnel, and to collaborate internationally, for example with the WHO Collaborating Centre.

• To be a dynamic and challenging workplace, a reliable partner for the Danish National Health Service and an industrious part of the Novo Nordisk concern.

• To meet the needs and expectations of our patients and partners by delivering the best possible service in a cost-effective manner.
