Steno Diabetes Center is an endocrinological, chiefly diabetological research hospital and international teaching centre that specialises in treating and managing diabetes. Our hospital operations are carried out in collaboration with the Capital Region of Denmark, where we function as a regional diabetes department. We also receive patients from other regions by referral.
Steno Diabetes Center is associated with the Copenhagen University Hospital and the Center employs a staff of 250. Steno Diabetes Center is owned by Novo Nordisk A/S.

Steno Symposium
175 from 27 different countries participated in the Steno Symposium in May. The topic for the symposium was ‘Novel Insights in Diabetes Mellitus and its Complications’. Several researchers in this field gave a presentation on the topic, among them 11 speakers from abroad.

On January 1st 2009 the research area has been changed, as three of the research teams are organisational belonging under Hagedorn Research Institute. The three teams are researching in molecular genetics (Oluf Pedersen), immunology type 1 diabetes (Thomas Mandrup-Poulsen) and genetics protetmic (Flemming Pociot).
