Steno Diabetes Center is an endocrinological, chiefly diabetological research hospital and international teaching centre that specialises in treating and managing diabetes. Our hospital operations are carried out in collaboration with the Capital Region of Denmark, where we function as a regional diabetes department. We also receive patients from other regions by referral.
Steno Diabetes Center is associated with the Copenhagen University Hospital and the Center employs a staff of 210. Steno Diabetes Center is owned by Novo Nordisk A/S.
Steno Diabetes Center is named after Niels Steensen who was a Danish anatomist, geologist and bishop. He signed his name, in Latin, as Nicolaus Stenonius but was known as Steno among scientists in the English-speaking world. Read more
