Steno Diabetes Center is an endocrinological, chiefly diabetological research hospital and international teaching centre that specialises in treating and managing diabetes. Our hospital operations are carried out in collaboration with the Capital Region of Denmark, where we function as a regional diabetes department. We also receive patients from other regions by referral.
Steno Diabetes Center is associated with the Copenhagen University Hospital and the Center employs a staff of 220. Steno Diabetes Center is owned by Novo Nordisk A/S.

The Frontiers symposim - a unqualified succes
Frontiers in Diabetes Research and Clinical Diabetology 2008 has just been held successfully in Copenhagen with 180 participants from 25 different nations. This year’s programme was very varied with topics as diabetes burden in the society, impact of hyperglycaemia, treatment modalities in type 2 diabetes, GLP-1 based therapies, feet need friends and painful diabetic neuropathy. Steno Education Center was the organizer of the symposium and was praised for the scientific programme as well as for the social programme that included a bike ride in the Deer garden and a visit to Steno Diabetes Center.

Strike in the Danish Healthcare System on Wednesday 16 April
The ourpatient clinic, the ward and the Diabetes Unit are all closed during the strike among nurses and social and healthcare assistants. Only patients who needs urgent treatment will be treated by a healthcare provider.
Patients who have appointments later than Wednesday 16 will be informed by letter.
Patients who are participating in projects in the Research Unit still have their appointments unless they have been informed by the staff.
